How the Ugg Knightsbridge Provides Both Comfort and Style
by admin on Oct.03, 2009, under Fashion
UGG’s have been seen on feet of some of the most popular and well-known women in the world. Browse through the pages of your favorite tabloid magazine and you are sure to see a variety of celebrities sporting a pair of UGG’s. In many instances, the particular style of UGG boot worn by these women is the UGG Knightsbridge boot. The Knightsbridge is UGG’s classic tall style that keeps toes comfortable all year round.
Kate Hudson, Eva Longoria, Britney Spears and Kate Winslet have all sung the praises of UGG’s and have been photographed wearing UGG boots. Made of natural sheepskin and lined with shearling wool, UGG’s make use of natural materials to make shoes that make your feet feel like they just slipped into a little bit of Heaven. The photos of celebrities like these have contributed to the popularity of UGG boots, but they are only part of the reason that UGG shoes are a style hit.
UGG Knightsbridge – A Fashion-Forward Boot
The UGG Knightsbridge boot is one of UGG’s tall boots. The wide toe box and boxy heel is right in line with this year’s casual styles. The multi-color side zipper makes them easy to step into, adds a fashion accent to the boot, and the selection of colors includes some of UGG’s most popular – black, espresso, chestnut and tan. The UGG Knightsbridge has a slimmer leg than the UGG classic, and this makes the UGG Knightsbridge a great choice for wear with skirts, sundresses and other leg showoffs.
UGG may be one of the most in vogue styles of boot ever. However, there is more to UGG Knightsbridge than style and great looks. The level of comfort provided by UGG Knightsbridge is unparalleled but other stylish boots. This combination of style and comfort is why the UGG Knightsbridge has become so popular.
UGG Comfort
Originally designed to be worn in the outback, UGG boots have taken the world by storm. There are stories which explain that UGG boots were originally created to be worn by surfers on Australia’s beaches to keep their feet warm when they came out of the water. Take one look at UGG boots and you can see why. There is no doubt about the comfort factor when it comes to UGG boots.
UGG footwear is made with genuine sheep skin, one of the most naturally comfortable materials in the world. Australian sheepskin is so comfortable that it is widely marketed as the most natural and comfortable sleep surface for newborn babies. If sheepskin can keep a newborn baby comfortable, just imagine how good it feels on your feet. UGG shoes are made from the finest quality sheepskin, both inside and out, and are meant to fit your feet like a glove fits your hand. The UGG Knightsbridge boot is no different, made with an EVA outsole for cushion and lightweight comfort.
Unlike most other shoes, UGG footwear is designed to be worn on bare feet. Sheepskin has a natural wicking action that pulls moisture away from your feet and allows air to circulate freely around them. That means that your feet are insulated – warm in winter, cool and dry in summer. When you wear UGG footwear, your feet feel clean and fresh all day long.
The insoles of UGG footwear are shaped to fit your feet. In fact these insoles are malleable enough to form around the exact shape of your foot. UGG boots are lined with shearling – the softest, springy wool. According to wearers, walking in UGG boots is like walking on pillows. The lightweight soles make it easier to walk as well. Especially if you are on your feet a lot, clunky, heavy boots can tire your legs out. With UGG boots, this is never an issue. That is one reason why they are a popular choice with actresses for wear on the set between takes.
UGG footwear is also a great value. At around $200 a pair retail, they are certainly not bargain basement prices, but the price is more than reasonable for such quality made footwear. Each Knightsbridge boot is reinforced with double-stitched seams for long wear. The soles are also durable, made of high quality materials and molded to provide excellent traction on all types of terrain. If you care for your UGG boots properly, they can last for years.
Caring for Your UGG Boots
UGG boots are not too difficult to keep in good-as-new condition. First, remember that UGG’s are not meant to be worn in wet weather. If they do get soaked or dirty, sponge them off with cold water on a soft cloth, then stuff them with a soft cloth, towel or crumpled newspaper and allow them to dry away from direct heat. Do not machine wash or machine dry, and use a protective coat made especially for suede products to protect them from the weather and spotting.

On the biggest night in Hollywood, all the celebrities flock to the Academy Awards to celebrate their achievements and walk the red carpet in noteworthy stylish designs from head to toe. Each actress primps and prepares for the event weeks in advance to achieve a final look that is drop dead gorgeous. The result is a whirlwind of extravagant diamonds and jewels fit for a queen. Here are just some of the notable actresses and the jewelry they wore:
Angelina Jolie – Always a knockout, Angie wore giant multi-carat $2.5M emerald pear drop earrings and a statement cocktail ring to infuse elements of color to her black ensemble.
Kate Winslet – With an ode to the old Hollywood glamour of the 40s and 50s, Kate stunned in diamond cluster drop earrings that looked phenomenal with her romantic up-swept hair and satin gown.
Alicia Keys – With cascading curls abounding, Alicia donned a feather shaped pair of gorgeous diamond encrusted earrings to compliment her violet colored dress.
Vanessa Hudgens – Youthful and radiant, Vanessa sported opulent opal teardrop earrings in a beautiful platinum setting. These earrings fell just at the collarbone for an ideal fit with her black gown.
Heidi Klum – This model fashionista accessorized with ornate pink and red jewel encrusted earrings to compliment her red ball gown. By keeping her hair sleek and simple, she let the earrings be the center of attention.
Sophia Loren – A timeless beauty, Sophia dazzled in a diamond clover and double strand pearl choker with matching pearl drop earrings.
Jessica Biel – With a tousled up-do, and radiant complexion Jessica easily pulled off a pair of diamond spherical drop earrings that added sparkle and glamour to her silk gown.
This year, it was all about the statement earrings and it was nice to see actresses up the glam-o-meter with such style and finesse.

The 2009 Bafta Awards and What the Celebrities Wore
by admin on Jun.20, 2009, under Fashion
The long awaited results of this year’s BAFTA awards and the ceremony to present them has been and gone for another year but still the conversation is on what the stars wore as they proceeded up the red carpet at the Royal Opera House.
This year there were many more black dresses than recent years; could this be due to the current economic climate? There was a huge range of styles worn by the celebrities to different degrees of success and while some look fabulous in the dresses they wore, others have done better in the past!
Starting with the black clad brigade of which there were many, Angelina Jolie and Penelope Cruz both looked stunning. Both women have “Deep” colouring which means that black is in their colour pallet. I particularly liked the splash of yellow (a hot colour for this season) in Angelina’s dress. The only criticism I would make of Penelope Cruz’s dress was the high neck line. It made her shoulders look bigger than they really are.
Kate Winslet and Emma Watson were also wearing black which could be overpowering for their colouring, but they both wore plunging necklines so the black wasn’t too near their faces. Emma’s dress was particularly stunning with the gold detail around the neck line.
Kylie Minogue and Goldie Hawn were less successful in black. Kylie’s “Soft” colouring would have been enhanced with a softer colour but again the low neckline helped. Goldie is blonde and over sixty so black is too harsh for her. A softer grey would have been more flattering.
Emilia Fox is much too small and frail looking for the heavy black dress with a long train which overpowered her in size and colour.
Freida Pinto a pale pink dress that was not the most flattering colour for her “deep” colouring although it was lovely to see some colour and the dress was a lovely shape to show off her curves, she needs something stronger and darker. Laura Bailey was the height of fashion with lots of ruffles and bright colouring but sadly not the right colour for her either and Amy Adams wore a blue dress that was a perfect shape for her body but the wrong colour for her auburn hair. A warmer shade of blue would have been more flattering.
Kirstin Scott Thomas looked truly amazing in her black and royal blue dress; she is a woman who knows how to dress glamorously. Her “Clear” looks are mirrored perfectly by this stunning dress.
For me, it was Sharon Stone who stole the show. She wasn’t the youngest woman present by any means but she looked amazing in a stunning red dress that enhanced her natural colouring and showed off her fabulous figure.

Celebrities and designer reading glasses
by admin on Jun.06, 2009, under Fashion
The fashion industry is not just about clothing and shoes, accessories play a major role in a complete personal fashion statement. The eyeglass industry has made a major impact on fashion and designer’s as well as celebrities want to be recognized for being totally in sync with what is worn on the body, as well as what is worn on the face. Reading glasses and sunglasses are considered essential fashion accessories and designers develop styles that compliment them. Every brand wants eyewear recognition and every consumer wants eyewear that distinguish and accent their personal fashion tastes. The eyeglass market is constantly changing and new designers license their names to eyeglass companies to promote a lifestyle or attitude. Celebrities wear their designs and a profitable relationship develops, which is called a complete fashion statement.
The list of fashion designers that license their name for reading glasses and sunglasses is a long one. Every designer knows that there’s a celebrity waiting to advertise and promote their product. Brands like Baby Phat, Converse. Prada, Burberry, Polo, Kate Spade, Guess, Gucci and Hugo Boss, as well as Ray-Ban, Oakley and Shuron Ronsir and countless others, all play a major role in the eyeglass market. Fashion is rooted in association. Everyone develops a fashion statement based on something that is already established. There’s a consumer who wears only Polo clothing or Kate Spade designs, so the reading glasses must be in sync with the brand’s clothing and other accessories.
Celebrities are considered walking billboards when it comes to promoting an eyeglass brand. Brad Pitt wearing a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses is worth millions in sales, but when you add names like Johnny Depp, Ben Affleck and Luke Ford to Ray-Ban’s list of wearers, the sales continue to grow season after season. Tom Cruise in a pair of Oakley Romeo’s or John Travolta in a pair of Oakley Square Wire’s or Matt Damon seen wearing a pair of Shuron Ronsir Zyl’s, creates new fashion statements that trickle through different cultures and create individual attitudes and style niches. The eyeglass industry is driven and supported by celebrities that wear eyeglasses and designer’s who license their name. It is a relationship that is a win for everyone involved. Thanks to that relationship, sunglasses and reading glasses have moved from the inexpensive racks in grocery stores to designer display cases in high-end retail outlets. A designer pair of reading glasses can cost as much as tailored suit or dress. Eyeglasses have taken their rightful place in the fashion world and that places keeps getting bigger everyday.

The Hot 2009 Trend in Sunglasses
by admin on May.25, 2009, under Fashion
No outfit is complete without the perfect selection of accessories. Sunglasses are now as important an accessory as handbags. The 80s retro and classic styles are the trend for 2009. Bold colors are especially popular. Since today’s styles are so fun, everyone is able to show off their unique personality. The following styles are the current “must haves”:
Wayfarers:
Ray Ban designed and manufactured the Wayfarer in 1952. This design introduced the plastic to sunglasses. Although marketed to men and pilots, Hollywood starlets such as Audrey Hepburn popularized the wayfarer. The height of its popularity was in mid 1980s. Ray-Ban’s 1982 product placement deal and Tom Cruise wearing the Wayfarer in Risky Business boosted sales tremendously. Through out the years the design of the wayfarer has changed. In the mid 2000’s Hollywood Starlets brought back the original wayfarer. Ray-Ban noticed that the original wayfarer was commanding high prices on eBay. They were being worn by the elite Hollywood. Ray-Ban was very smart in 2007 to re-introduce the original wayfarer.
Aviators:
Ray Ban developed the original aviator in 1937. They sold these to the Army and Navy in 1941. Naval aviators were the first to wear these sunglasses. Hollywood celebrities popularized the aviator in the 1960s. However, the aviators hit their all time peak of popularity in 1980s following the movie, “Top Gun”. Tom Cruise and Val Kilmer wore these shades beautifully. The aviator is now seen on many current celebrities such as Kayne West, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, Jennifer Aniston, Lindsay Lohan and Rachel Bilson.
Lolita Heart Sunglasses:
Celebrities, such as Nicole Richie, love to wear the Lolita heart sunglasses. These fun and flirty sunglasses were first worn in the 1962 movie, “Lolita”. You can find these fun sunglasses in every color.
Oversized:
Oversized styles are still very popular.
Millionaires:
Louis Vuittun’s popularized the millionaire style sunglasses. Celebrities such as Kayne West, Rihanna and Paris Hilton love this style. This trend is still going strong for 2009.
Devo:

Shutter Shades:

Since then they have been worn by several celebrities. In the 1980s, a similar style nicknamed “Venetian Blinders” was popularized by the group Simple Minds in their “Glittering Prize” video.
